ROOT-CAUSE CARE AT ONYX

Naturopathic and functional medicine care that starts by listening to you

The conditions on this page overlap constantly. A thyroid problem often presents as weight gain, and low cortisol usually shows up first as broken sleep. Treated separately, they become four prescriptions that never address why the symptoms started in the same year.

So we start by listening. You are the one living in your body, and when you tell us something has changed we take that as the place to start rather than something to rule out. Then we test: a full history, lab work chosen for your symptoms, and a dedicated visit to go through every result with you. Our three licensed naturopathic doctors read those markers together, which is how patterns show up that a single number will not.

START HERE

Start with your symptoms, even without a diagnosis

You do not need a diagnosis to book with us. Most people arrive with a list of symptoms nobody has connected yet. Find the one that sounds like you and we will start there.

Tired no matter how much you sleep?

Lost your strength and drive?

Gaining weight without changing anything?

Brain fog that will not lift?

Hot flashes or night sweats breaking your sleep?

Anxious in a way that does not match your life?

Periods gone irregular or painful?

Always cold when nobody else is?

Thinning hair, stubborn weight, aching joints and new anxiety trace back to hormones, thyroid or blood sugar more often than people expect. Any one of them has other explanations. Together they usually point somewhere specific.

BEFORE YOU FOUND US

Why these conditions are often missed

Most of these conditions are shaped by several systems working together, so care built around a single marker can miss what is driving the symptoms. Common gaps include:

One number rarely describes a thyroid

TSH is a screening marker. Free T3, free T4 and thyroid antibodies explain symptoms that TSH on its own will read as perfectly normal.

Reference ranges describe populations

A reference range covers most of a healthy population. Landing inside one tells you that you are not an outlier, which is a different question from whether that number is right for you.

One draw catches one moment

Cortisol moves through the day and sex hormones move through the month. A single morning draw, timed wrong, can miss the exact thing you came in about.

Symptoms get routed to different offices

Sleep goes to one specialist, mood to another, weight to a third. Each visit produces a reasonable answer on its own, and none of them explain why all three started together.

Fatigue gets attributed to age or stress

Both are real and both genuinely cause symptoms. Neither one explains why yours began when they did, and neither is testable on its own.

Follow-up labs get skipped

A treatment plan without repeat testing never gets verified. We retest and adjust dosing, and most plans change at least once before they settle.

Have been told your labs are normal

But you still do not feel right, and nobody has explained why

Are managing symptoms across several specialists

Sleep with one office, mood with another, weight with a third

Want testing that explains, not only screens

Comprehensive panels rather than the standard minimum

Would rather understand the cause first

Before starting another medication or increasing a dose

IS THIS THE RIGHT FIT

Our naturopathic care is right for you if you:

We are a good fit for people who want an explanation before a prescription. If several of these are true, a first visit is worth booking.

TESTING FIRST

Six lab panels we run before treating anything

Which panels you need depends on what brought you in. These are the ones we draw from most often, and we tell you what we are ordering and why before you leave.

Full hormone panel

Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA read together, timed to your cycle where that matters.

Full thyroid panel

TSH plus free T3, free T4 and TPO antibodies, rather than TSH alone.

Adrenal and cortisol testing

Cortisol measured at several points across the day to show the rhythm, not one morning reading.

Metabolic and blood-sugar markers

Insulin resistance and blood-sugar swings feed hormone imbalance and stubborn weight, so we test for them directly.

Nutrient and vitamin testing

Vitamin D, iron and B vitamins are needed for hormone production. We identify the gaps and correct them.

Your lab review

Every result is reviewed with you by a doctor, in plain language, so you understand what is driving how you feel.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What happens at your first naturopathic visit

The process is testing first. A full history, panels chosen for your symptoms, and a dedicated visit to go through what they mean.

01

Your first visit

A full history, with enough appointment time to tell it properly and a doctor who is listening for what connects it. A deposit holds the slot and we send your intake ahead of time.

02

Your lab work

Testing chosen around your symptoms rather than a standard panel. We tell you what we are ordering and why before you leave.

03

Your lab review

A second visit to go through every result and build the plan, so you leave understanding your own numbers.

04

Retesting and adjustment

We retest at intervals and adjust from there. Most plans change at least once before they settle.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions about naturopathic care in Gilbert

No. Most people arrive with symptoms and no explanation, which is what the first visit and the lab work are for. We take a full history, order the panels that match your symptoms, and bring you back to review every result together.

Book an initial visit. Your naturopathic doctor orders a comprehensive panel based on your history and symptoms, then reviews every marker with you at a dedicated follow-up rather than sending a printout.

We are primarily a cash-pay clinic. Lab work is often billable to your insurance even though our visits are not, and coverage depends on your plan. Our front desk walks you through what to expect before your first appointment.

It depends on your testing and your plan. We give you the cost of the visit and the lab work up front, before anything is ordered, and your deposit applies to the visit.

Naturopathic doctors, endocrinologists and some primary care physicians all treat these conditions. Our three licensed naturopathic doctors (NMD) test hormones alongside thyroid, cortisol and blood sugar, because those markers move together and reading them separately is where patterns get missed.

We cannot promise a timeline, and how quickly things shift depends on what is driving your symptoms. What we can tell you is that most of our patients report a significant improvement somewhere in the first four to twelve weeks. We retest at intervals and adjust rather than leaving a plan unchecked, and most plans change at least once before they settle.

Yes. Our naturopathic doctors work with patients across the country by telemedicine, as well as in person here in Gilbert. Telemedicine visits are booked from the same schedule as in-office ones, so the wait for an appointment is the same either way.
