HORMONE CARE AT ONYX
We treat the cause, not the symptom
Tired all the time. Weight that will not move. Sleep that stopped working. A drive that faded. These rarely come from one number sitting out of range, which is why one lab and one prescription rarely fix them.
Our naturopathic doctors test sex hormones, thyroid, adrenal and metabolic markers together, go through every result with you, and build the plan from your levels. Bioidentical hormone therapy, thyroid and adrenal care and testosterone therapy all happen here, with the same team watching the numbers.
HORMONE SERVICES
Hormone care for both men and women
Choose your path.
Hormone care for women
First irregular cycle to years past menopause, these are the services women book with us. Perimenopause, menopause, PCOS, PMS and PMDD, postpartum and thyroid changes overlap constantly, and the same marker reads differently depending on where you are in your cycle. Every one of these starts with testing.
Bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT)
Hormones compounded to match your own levels, for perimenopause and menopause and beyond.
What’s included
- Full sex-hormone panel
- Compounded to your own levels
- Retesting and dose adjustment
Perimenopause & menopause
Hot flashes, night sweats, broken sleep and mood changes through the transition.
What’s included
- Symptom and cycle review
- Hormone therapy options
- Sleep and mood support
PCOS
What’s included

Hormone pellet therapy
Steady low-maintenance dosing for women who prefer fewer touchpoints.
What’s included
- Baseline lab work
- In-office pellet insertion

Hormone care for men
Low testosterone is what most men come in for, and it is almost never the only thing moving. Thyroid, cortisol and blood sugar drive energy, sex drive, body composition and recovery right alongside it. One marker on its own tells you very little, so we test the whole picture before anyone starts treatment.
Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)
What’s included
- Total and free testosterone
- Dosing set by your lab results
- Ongoing monitoring
Low testosterone & andropause
What’s included
- Full hormone panel
- Thyroid and cortisol review
- Treatment plan and recheck
Peptide therapy
Targeted support for recovery, body composition and sleep quality.

Hormone pellet therapy
A lower-maintenance delivery option dosed to your labs.

FOR WOMEN AND MEN
What else we check
Plenty of what drives a hormone problem sits outside the sex hormones. Thyroid, adrenal and metabolic markers run alongside whichever plan you start, because treating one and ignoring the others is how people end up back where they started.
SYMPTOMS
Do you have these symptoms?
Hormone problems show up in ordinary ways that are easy to blame on stress or age. If several of these are true at once, that is a pattern worth testing.
Do you feel exhausted no matter how much you sleep?
Has your sex drive faded?
Are you gaining weight without changing anything?
Do you feel foggy, forgetful or unmotivated?
Are hot flashes or night sweats disrupting your sleep?
Do you feel anxious or irritable in a way that does not match your life?
Are your periods irregular or painful?
Has your strength, stamina or drive dropped off?
Thinning hair, adult acne, aching joints, new anxiety and low drive trace back to hormones more often than people expect. Any one of them has other explanations. Together they usually point somewhere specific.
WHAT WE TREAT
The hormones we test and treat
These six run your energy, sleep, mood, weight and sex drive. They also depend on each other, so one reading on its own rarely tells you what is wrong.
Estrogen
Cycle, mood, skin, bone strength and menopausal symptoms
Progesterone
Sleep, calm, cycle balance and PMS
Testosterone
Energy, libido, muscle and drive, in women and men
Thyroid
Metabolism, body temperature, weight and energy
Cortisol & DHEA
Your stress response, resilience and recovery
Insulin
Blood sugar, energy crashes and stubborn weight
THE PART MOST PEOPLE HAVE LIVED THROUGH
Why hormone problems get missed
You have probably been told your bloodwork came back normal. Here is why that happens so often, and why it does not mean nothing is wrong.
Hormones are read one at a time
A single hormone gets checked, it lands inside the reference range, and the search stops there. The pattern across your whole panel never gets looked at.
Normal is a wide range, not your range
Lab reference ranges cover most of the population. Sitting at the bottom edge of normal is still technically normal, and it can still feel awful.
One blood draw is one moment
Hormones move through the day and through the month. A single morning draw can miss what is actually happening the rest of the time.
Symptoms get treated separately
Sleep gets one prescription, mood gets another, weight gets advice. Treated as separate problems, the thread connecting them never gets pulled.
It gets put down to age or stress
Fatigue, weight gain and low drive get attributed to getting older or having a lot on. Sometimes that is the answer. Often it is the reason nobody looked further.
Nobody retests
One panel gets run, nothing obvious stands out, and there is no plan to look again. Hormones move, so a single snapshot is rarely enough to rule anything out.
HOW WE TEST
Hormone testing in Gilbert, AZ
What we run depends on your symptoms and history. Most people get some combination of these, and we tell you what each one is for before you get stuck with a needle.
Full hormone panel
Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA together, so we see the full picture rather than one marker.
Full thyroid panel
Beyond TSH alone. We assess T3, T4, reverse T3 and thyroid antibodies to catch what standard panels miss.
Adrenal and cortisol testing
Chronic stress wears the adrenals down. We measure your cortisol rhythm to see how stress is affecting the rest of your hormones.
Metabolic and blood-sugar markers
Insulin resistance and blood-sugar swings feed hormone imbalance and stubborn weight, so we test for them directly.
Nutrient and vitamin testing
Vitamin D, iron and B vitamins are needed for hormone production. We identify the gaps and correct them.
Your lab review
Every result is reviewed with you by a doctor, in plain language, so you understand what is driving how you feel.
THE ONYX APPROACH
Testing first, then a plan that is actually yours
We are one clinic in Gilbert with three naturopathic doctors, not a franchise with a dozen locations and not a pellet mill. You will not be handed a standard protocol on your first visit, because we will not know enough yet to build you a real one.
- Three licensed naturopathic doctors, one Gilbert clinic
- Comprehensive panels across sex, thyroid, adrenal and metabolic markers
- Every result reviewed with you in plain language, not sent to a portal

GOOD TO KNOW
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my hormones are imbalanced?
The only way to know is to test, because the common symptoms of hormone imbalance overlap with several other conditions. Fatigue, weight changes, low libido, poor sleep, mood changes and brain fog can all point to hormones, and they can also point to thyroid, iron, blood sugar or sleep problems. That overlap is exactly why we test before we treat rather than working from symptoms alone.
How do I get all my hormone levels checked?
At Onyx, your naturopathic doctor orders a comprehensive panel at your first visit and reviews every result with you at a follow-up appointment. You do not need a referral. Most patients complete their lab work locally in Gilbert, and we go through the full picture together rather than sending you a portal result to interpret on your own.
Will insurance cover hormone testing?
Lab work is often billable to your insurance even though our visits are not, and coverage depends on your specific plan and diagnosis codes. Onyx is primarily a cash-pay clinic for appointments. Many patients use HSA or FSA funds, and we can provide documentation you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network consideration.
How much does hormone treatment cost at Onyx?
Cost depends on your testing and your treatment plan, and we go over the full picture with you before anything begins. A deposit secures your appointment and applies toward that visit. We do not run free consultations, because your first appointment is a real clinical evaluation rather than a sales conversation.
Is hormone replacement therapy safe?
Hormone therapy is considered appropriate for many patients when it is prescribed and monitored by a licensed clinician, and suitability depends on your health history, your labs and your risk factors. That assessment is part of your first visit and your lab review. We start conservatively, we recheck your levels, and we adjust based on what your follow-up testing shows.
How long until I start to feel different?
This varies considerably from person to person, and it depends on what is driving your symptoms and which approach your plan uses. Some people notice changes early on, others take longer, and some need their plan adjusted after the first recheck. We schedule follow-up testing specifically so we are tracking your response rather than guessing at it.
What kind of doctor treats a hormone imbalance?
A naturopathic doctor, an endocrinologist or a hormone-focused physician can all evaluate a hormone imbalance. At Onyx you see a licensed naturopathic doctor (NMD), who is trained to look at how your systems interact and typically spends considerably longer with you than a standard primary care appointment allows. Your primary care doctor is often working inside a fifteen-minute visit and a panel your insurance will authorize. We order broader testing, interpret it with you, and treat hormones alongside metabolism, nutrition and stress rather than as a separate specialty.
