03 · Labs and Testing
Schedule your lab work and get results
When your provider orders labs, the order is sent to the lab and uploaded to your portal. You book the blood draw yourself, at whichever location suits you.
- Where to go
- Standard blood work runs through LabCorp, Sonora Quest and Patient's Choice. Patient's Choice can be reached at (602) 923-0605.
- Patient's Choice locations
- They have draw sites across the Valley, plus Flagstaff, Payson and Tucson. See current addresses and hours on the Patient's Choice locations page.
- How scheduling works
- Your order is uploaded to your patient portal. Schedule your draw directly with the lab location that works best for you.
- Turnaround
- Most results take up to 10 days.
- How results are reviewed
- All results are reviewed with you during a follow up appointment, so nothing is read out of context.
We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm coverage before testing. AHCCCS plans and Medicare will not pay for labs ordered by a naturopathic doctor. Low cost self pay options are available, including comprehensive panels for around $300 to $350.

How Care Works Here
What to expect at your first visit
Three steps, and enough time to actually get through them.
Consultation
A 75 minute comprehensive consultation with a licensed naturopathic doctor. We review your full medical history, symptoms, lifestyle factors and previous treatments before we talk about next steps.
Order or review labs
Your doctor orders the functional testing that helps explain your symptoms, or reviews labs you already have. You do not need lab work before your first appointment.
Your treatment plan
A personalised plan built around what the testing shows, along with a clearer understanding of where your symptoms come from. Follow ups run 30 to 45 minutes.
Payment
Paying for your care
We keep the money conversation open. Here is how payment works, and where insurance can still help.
What we accept
- All major credit cards
- Cash
- Health savings accounts (HSA)
- Flexible spending accounts (FSA)
Office visits
Onyx is a self pay clinic. No insurance providers currently allow naturopathic doctors into their network, so we cannot bill insurance for visits.
Lab testing
Insurance can be used for standard lab work through LabCorp and Sonora Quest. Two exceptions: AHCCCS plans and Medicare will not pay for labs ordered by a naturopathic doctor.
Reimbursement
Some plans reimburse out of network naturopathic care. Ask your doctor for a superbill, and call your insurer before your visit to confirm what your plan covers.
From Anywhere
Telemedicine appointments
We offer telemedicine through a secure, HIPAA compliant video chat system. It is a good fit if you live out of state, have a long commute to the office, or simply prefer to meet from home. Our naturopathic doctors are licensed physicians in the state of Arizona.
