ABOUT
HOW TO GET STARTED & WHAT TO EXPECT
The first step is booking a 30 minute 1-1 consultation with our doctors. At this appointment, you’ll review your medical history, & weight loss goals. The doctor will perform a physical exam including your current weight and measurements. If you have recent labs, the doctor will review them. He/she may also choose to order more laboratory tests. Next, you’ll discuss your current eating patterns and the doctor coach you on the best dietary strategy for you as an individual.
At this appointment, the doctor will determine if you are a good candidate for semaglutide and if so, will prescribe the medication to you from our trusted compounding pharmacy.
Regular check-ins every (4-8 weeks, on average) are required to assess your progress, monitor labs, and refill your semaglutide prescription.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Semaglutide is an injectable medication that mimics the hormone GLP-1, which is released in the gut after eating. It works in a few ways:
- By decreasing your appetite and food cravings
- Slowing gastric emptying, making you feel fuller for longer
- Regulating blood sugar and insulin levels and overall glucose metabolism
- Regulating your metabolism of dietary fat
Semaglutide is a prescription medication from the compounding pharmacy. It is administered at home on a weekly basis. It comes in a small vial that you keep frozen. Once a week, after allowing the solution to defrost on the counter for 10-20 minutes, you’ll inject a small amount into the skin of your abdomen using a small syringe.
Clinical studies have shown that semaglutide can lead to significant weight loss in individuals with obesity or overweight. It is also helpful in those who are not considered obese or significantly overweight and struggle to lose weight. However, it should be used as an adjunct to a comprehensive weight management program that includes diet, exercise, and behavior modification, which is a key focus in our comprehensive weight loss program.
To avoid side effects, we slowly taper your semaglutide dose. However, about 15-20% of people experience mild to moderate side effects in the first few weeks, which typically dissipate over time. Some of the most common side effects are:
- Nausea/Reflux
- Constipation
- Low energy
In clinical trials, patients treated with semaglutide for weight loss lost an average of 5-10% of their body weight. The weight loss effects of semaglutide may begin within the first few weeks of treatment, but it may take several weeks or longer for the full effects to be seen. The average weight loss we see is one to two pounds per week, however, each person is different.
